 3. RESULTS

To assess the treatment results we used a summary assessment, which was calculated according to Table 2. Patients were clinically assessed prior to treatment and then two weeks after final treatment. Prior- and post-treatment photos were taken. Patient’s level of satisfaction was also noted.

  • +5 “Excellent”
  • +4 “Good”
  • +3 “Fair”
  • Less than +3 “Unacceptable”

As it can be seen from the Table 2 if any scarring was seen, the assessment could not be better than “Fair” or “Unacceptable”.

Table 3 lists number of treatments and results after final treatment. 81 patients out of 111 (73%) had excellent results while 26 (23%) had good results after 2 to 4 treatments.

Table 3. Results of Selective Laser Coagulation of facial telangiectasias

22 patients with nasal alae telangiectasias had good to excellent results while three patients with telangiectasias of the nasal alae were resistant to the therapy because vessel recanalization occurred several days after treatment. 107 patients out of 111 (96%) showed good to excellent results.
